Flower Friday

Today I'm sharing a few images that have been persuading me into creating an extravagant fall arrangement. Hopefully I'll have some free time to pay a visit to the flower markets soon.

Flower Friday

Today's arrangement is all about the simplicity and boldness of sunflowers.
I started with 12 huge sunflowers and mixed in a few stems of buplerum to make it dynamic.
Tip: Start by creating the bouquet in your hand. When it looks ready, cut the stems and set into your vase. If you're using a glass vase always cut the stems slightly shorter than our vase.

Flower Friday

Nothing brightens up my weekend like fresh flowers.
Happy Flower Friday, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Flower Friday

Today's flower arrangement is a fragrant combination of tulips and anemones nesteled into fresh lilac.
Tip: I used masking tape to create squares on the top of my vase to help keep the flowers in their right spot.

Flower Friday

Happy Spring! Celebrate the arrival of this new season with a fresh bouquet of Lilac.
It will make your house smell like heaven. I paired mine with pink, yellow, and white anemones and ranunculas.

Flower Friday

Last month I had the pleasure of reuniting with the creative team at Ruche to create florals for their Spring lookbook.  This is the fun part of my job that I rarely get to share. Head over to Ruche to see the entire lookbook.

Flower Friday

A simple, sleek arrangement of white orchids is the focus of today's Flower Friday.
To create this centerpiece I used that hydrangea trick I mentioned last time and about 10 stems of white orchids. Orchids last a very long time, so they're worth the higher price point. These particular orchids stayed fresh for 2 weeks.

Flower Friday

I've been spotting kumquats all over the flower markets these days and couldn't help but
include them in a colorful little arrangement. The best part is that they last for a long time, they can be reused for new arrangements, and they're totally delicious.
Flower Tip: My dear friend Bess, the creative genius/lady boss behind Celadon & Celery, taught me a quick little trick. Rather than using something like floral foam to position flowers in an arrangement, she uses hydrangea tops to weave in the stems and hold them in place. This has been one of the greatest little tricks I've learned. Basically you just cut off the top of a hydrangea and place it inside your vase with water. Next just nestle your flower stems as you like and the hydrangea will ensure that your flowers stay in place.

Flower Friday

To celebrate Valentine's Day I'm sharing a 5 minute DIY flower garland I whipped up this morning with some leftovers from an arrangement.
As you can see it's a pretty straightforward project.  Definitely not rocket science. All you need is yarn or string and whatever flowers you have on hand. You can make the garland last a few days longer by storing it in the fridge overnight, or let it dry as a keepsake.

Happy Flower Friday and Valentine's Day!

Flower Friday

Today I'm sharing another mini collaboration between Bess ( Celadon & Celery) and myself.
Bess brought over a carload of white flowers and went to work creating dreamy flower crowns and accessories for me to play with.

Flower Friday

I fell in love with these beautiful orchids while wandering the flower markets the other day.
They were so tall and beautiful I   couldn't resist playing up the height of this arrangement with blooming branches.
I made mini versions with the leftovers and tucked them in to unexpected corners around the house.

Flower Friday

I love the freshness and crispness that winter brings. Even though we don't necessarily get too many seasons  in California, winter still brings with it a sense of change. I wanted this arrangement to feel like a gentle reminder of a snow storm. It's romantic and modern, yet still effortless.

The second set of photos from my beautiful shoot with Jana and Bess.
 You can see more here.
This shoot is how I imagine myself on my wedding day,  barefoot and relaxed. Marrying the man of your dreams should not be a stressful day. Our love will not be defined by handmade burlap details of our wedding, nor will it be defined by the attendees gushing over how beautiful everything is. A wedding day is about making a promise to each other in front of the most important people in your life. My wedding day will not be about showing off my ability to color coordinate table linens, it will be about the intense love and friendship Sam and I share.
