Today is my 30th birthday! I spent yesterday, the last day of my 20’s, doing all of my favorite frivolous things. I started the day off at the flower market picking up an obscene amount of ranunculi. Next Sam and I popped into our local coffee shop for breakfast and people watching. We followed up breakfast with some major shopping. We grabbed a bougie lunch. We ended the day watching the sunset and drinking my favorite French rosé at Soho house. All in all it was the perfect way to end a wonderfully wild decade. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 10 years are going to bring.

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend. Today I’m sharing a curated selection of my favorite pieces, gifts, and baubles still on sale. There’s everything from holiday dresses and cozy sweaters, to gifts for your hubby or wifey.

I distinctly remember the dilemma of choosing between spending $19 at a thrift store or spending $19 at a grocery store. I obviously went with my thrift store finds. Sam and I ended up feasting on steamed rice with soy sauce that night.

This type of push and pull between what I need and what I want has shaped the way I shop as well as the perceived value of the things I spend my money on.  Nordstrom Rack has always been my go-to for when I’m craving designer items but don’t necessarily want to drop a ton of cash. I’ve been going to Nordstrom Rack since I was in high school. It was the only way my mom would even consider buying me anything “designer”. Years later I still find myself popping in to find hidden gems like this Alexander Wang leather skirt and cozy A.L.C.  sweater.

We’re have a very busy week getting ready for a wedding in Boulder, and our trips to Paris and London. We’re trying to get everything done while sneaking in as much cuddle time with our pups as possible.  This leaves me with very little time to worry about what I’m wearing as we run errands. I’ve found that a silk scarf is my favorite way to pull together a casual outfit with minimal effort. The devil’s in the details as they say, and a silk scarf is an easy detail that can be added to almost any outfit. Now I understand why my grandmother was always trying to sneak dainty little scarves into my jackets when I was growing up.

GOLD SKIRT STRIPED SWEATER-2GOLD SKIRT STRIPED SWEATER-1GOLD SKIRT STRIPED SWEATER-4GOLD SKIRT STRIPED SWEATER-6GOLD SKIRT STRIPED SWEATER-7GOLD SKIRT STRIPED SWEATER-5GOLD SKIRT STRIPED SWEATER-3I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this pleated gold skirt is one of my favorite vintage finds ever.  I purchased it when we first moved to  San Francisco. It was $12 and had a fake Yves Saint Laurent tag sewn in. After modeling at NastyGal I learned enough about vintage to realize the tag was fake. The skirt none the less is just as amazing without the designer label. Every few seasons metallic pleated skirts just like my vintage beauty dot the runways, dominate the street style scene, and mine finds it’s way out of my prized vintage collection. Sam might find my collection less than amusing, but one day I’ll prove him wrong when the MET comes calling.
