Road trip season is here and Sam and I have been getting Baby Blue ready for a few more adventurous excursions. Most recently, we took the van up to the family ranch in Santa Cruz by way of Carmel. Our new favorite place to stay is the Carmel Valley Ranch. The resort is nestled deep in Carmel Valley, surrounded by oak trees, wildlife, and wildflowers. The outside tub is perfect for relaxing and , because it’s dog friendly, of course we brought the whole fluffy squad.

Before heading out on a trip, and with a variety of new adventures on the horizon, I absolutely had to get my hair done. It’s my secret weapon to feeling my best while we travel.  My hair guru Alexis and I decided to go for an icy blonde hue. My hair takes about 7.5 hours to do and we have to put it through a lot to get the color I envision.

After getting my hair dyed I always take special care of it to keep it looking shiny and healthy. It was perfect timing since I’m now going to be an Herbal Essences brand ambassador so I can keep my hair looking healthy and feeling it’s best!

I was so excited to try their new line of shampoos and conditioners with the new bio:renew formula, a blend of signature natural ingredients that helps revive dull, lifeless hair.

I always love learning about the science behind the products I’m using so was thrilled to get the chance to speak to one of the actual chemists who worked on the bio:renew technology!

The first collection I tried from the new range was the Herbal Essences Argan Oil of Morocco Collection. It’s designed to repair hair and left mine feeling shiny and smooth. I’m excited to try the rest of the new collections which are all free of gluten, paraben and dyes. Plus I love the updated bottle design and refreshing new scents!

Los Angeles has been unseasonably rainy this month which has been great for all those coats I can never find a reason to wear but always end up getting anyways. We’ve been exploring our new neighborhood lately and with the drizzly weather our favorite stop has been our neighborhood coffee shop, Paper or Plastik. It’s a great hideaway for a midday pick me up. Sam and I love to perch up over the coffee bar and people watch while hiding behind our laptops. It’s becoming our little weekday routine whenever we find ourselves at home.

I hope you guys had a chance to see my post from El Cuyo where I talked about the Trove app. It’s the perfect on the go app for shopping the current trends and outfits from your favorite bloggers. Download it today and shop this outfit right from your phone.

It’s no secret that Sam and I have caught the travel bug. As we travel to new places we’ve made a point of taking time out of our trips to explore destinations that are completely off the beaten path. On our current trip through Mexico we found ourselves leaving Tulum in search of something untouched by other travelers. We found just what we were looking for in the tiny village of El Cuyo in the Yucatán. The village consists of kind people, brightly colored houses, and crystal clear water that stretches as far as the eye can see. It is places like this that make me feel the most inspired. This inspiration inevitably leads to a renewed desire to shop for something special that fits my new found inspiration.

A great new shopping destination that you must check out is the Trove appI love shopping online as much as the next person, but what I love most about the Trove app is that it gives you the ability to shop looks from real people vs. online models. Trove allows you to follow your favorite style influencers and shop their outfit posts directly from the app. In addition, Trove gives users the ability to see all the new posts quickly and shop their favorite looks instantly. It’s easy, incredibly efficient, and you can even save your favorite looks and products to a personalized closet.  What’s also really cool about the Trove app is that even while I’m sitting on a remote beach in Mexico I can use the trends tab to see what my influencer friends are wearing for New York Fashion Week. Download the app today and start shopping all of your favorite looks.

This week I had an opportunity with Match.com to visit the Elite Daily offices in New York to give some of the editors some tips on the do’s and don’ts of taking the perfect dating profile picture.  According to Match.com, Sunday, January 8th at 8:49 ET is the busiest time of year for dating. They even call it Dating Sunday. Also, according to Match, during this day they see a 42% spike in new singles. This makes Sunday the perfect time to sign up or update your profile so you can have the best odds of finding that special someone. My number one tip is to project confidence and having perfect hair and makeup is a shortcut to achieving it. That’s why it was great to have a team from Glamsquad at the office to have us looking our best. These are the other tips I shared with the editors for them to take the perfect profile picture.

1.  When it comes to your dating profile photo, make it a close-up.

2. Make direct eye contact with the camera and give a great smile.

3. Lighting is key! Take your photo(s) in a well-lit area.

4. No bathroom mirrors.

5. Keeping the background simple and muted will help you stand out.

6. If you’re taking a selfie, make sure you have a nice background.

7. Look like yourself, don’t overdo it with hair and makeup.

8. Wear colors that flatter your skin tone.

9. When it comes to your clothing, solid colors photograph best.

10. Above all project confidence!

In the photos below you can see two examples of some do’s on the left and don’ts on the right.

Don’t forget this Sunday is Dating Sunday. Sign up at  Match.com or if you already have an account maybe update that picture to a more confident you.

Nothing is more of a confidence booster than having beautiful healthy hair. Even with our mild LA winters my hair always feels dry and a bit frizzy during the colder months. To help my hair look it’s best I switch up my beauty routine and add a weekly treatment to keep my hair looking it’s best. This year I had the opportunity to try Pantene Pro-V’s Smooth & Sleek Collection. The Smooth and Sleek collection includes shampoo and conditioner that help lock out frizz and keep my hair feeling smoother for longer. My favorite product from the collection is the  Smooth and Sleek 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner. I use it at least once a week and sometimes more often if I feel my hair needs some extra attention. I love how smooth, soft and manageable my locks look and feel. Winter always seems like the time where you may just want to stay inside by the fire but there’s nothing like having a good hair day to make you want to go out to show it off.  You can get it here from Amazon which is great especially if you have Prime.
