We snapped these pics on the last day of 2015 in Malibu. We spent a mello New Years Eve enjoying some great food at Inn of the Seventh Rey, and relaxing at Calmigos Ranch. It was a perfect way to usher in 2016. I hope all of you had a wonderful New Years weekend!

NEW-YEARS-COCKTAIL-1As I mentioned in yesterday’s post I love NYE. This year Sam and I have decided to spend it with just the two of us. We rented a luxurious cabin in Malibu and made reservations at one of our favorite Malibu restaurants, Inn of the 7th Ray, for dinner. This is going to be the first year where we aren’t attending any parties, but we have sparklers, poppers and Champagne. I think we’ll be alright.

Whether your staying in our going out this Champagne Mojito is a refreshing way to  celebrate.

Ingredients

16 oz (2 cups) water

16 0z (2 cups) sugar

1/2 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice

1 oz white rum

3 sprigs fresh mint

4 oz dry sparkling white wine or Champagne

Crushed Ice

Makes One Cocktail

Directions

Start by making the  simple syrup. Heat 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water until the sugar melts. Let the syrup cool. Next mix the rum, lime juice and mint well in cocktail shaker. Muddle well and shake over ice. Strain into a tall, skinny glass or flute and top each with 3-4 oz sparkling wine. Garnish with mint and serve. If you wanna make a batch just multiply all the ingredients by however many drinks you want to make, you should have enough syrup to make about 16 cocktails. You can refrigerate the leftover syrup for up to 2 weeks.

NEW-YEARS-DRESS-8 NEW-YEARS-DRESS-7 NEW-YEARS-DRESS-6 NEW YEARS DRESS-5 NEW-YEARS-DRESS-4 NEW-YEARS-DRESS-2 NEW-YEARS-DRESS-3I love New Year’s Eve. It brings together my 3 favorite things friends, champagne, and confetti. I love getting dressed up and greeting the new year with a celebration. Every year I persuade one of my friends to throw a party  and let me bring all the festive goodies. It always ends being a great albeit messy night of sparklers, confetti bombs, and late night adventures.

This year I haven’t found a place to go but I have plenty of dresses to wear. This is one of my favorite options. I wore the dress and coat to a CFDA dinner in Dallas, but since no one I know saw me I figure I can re-wear the dress with a few styling tweaks.

If you have’t found anything to wear checkout Shopbop and Revolve. Both sites are having extra sales on their sale items and both offer next day delivery.

MARY-KAY-2December is a busy month of travel and holiday festivities. With an ever expanding family, I have to get more and more creative with gifts each year. One of my absolute favorite traditions from Sam’s side of the family is the way his mom uses holiday stockings. Her friend hand knits one for each family member, I got mine the very 1st Christmas we spent together, and they hang on the mantle from the start of the season as a beacon of what’s to come. On Christmas morning the very first thing we all do is grab our stocking and find innumerable goodies inside. The stockings look average but must be some sort of magic because they stretch to fit an unimaginable number of toothbrushes, lotions, jewelry, iPads, GoPros, and everything in between. I love this tradition so much that I have instituted it at my mom’s house (we split the holidays between our families every other year).

Some of the goodies for my stockings this year are two gift sets from Mary Kay that I’m combining into one big stocking stuffer gift to send out to the family members we won’t get to see this year. I’m sending out the limited-edition Mary Kay Cream & Sugar Scrub & Sugar Body Gift Set which includes an exfoliating chocolate-scented body scrub and a soft, creamy-scented Body Whip.  To go along with this luscious set I’m also including The Limited-Edition Mary Kay At Play Little Delights Fragrance Mists, a set of two deliciously scented mists in Pomegranate Tart and Pink Macaroon. Since I was snacking on some macaroons as I wrapped these up, I threw a few of these sugary pillows of goodness into each gift set for a little bit of sweet decor.
I’ll be giving away one of each gift sets to 25 lucky winners on my Instagram. Make sure to follow along @LateAfternoon for your chance to win.
