I spent my whole life dreaming of visiting the South of France. I dreamt of picking fresh fruit and olives barefoot, lounging under fig trees and driving down to the Mediterranean to escape the summer heat. It always seemed like a place I’d fall in love with. This summer Sam and I finally had the chance to fulfill my travel dream when we took a road trip starting in Paris and ending in Saint Tropez. The entire experience was truly transformative and exactly as dreamy as I imagined. I can’t wait to go back and dream of spending an entire summer in Provence. In the meantime I’ve been filling my home and my life with reminders of our trip. Even my gifts are infused with these touches courtesy of LOccitane and their beautiful gift sets. This season LOccitane has partnered with UNICEF to donate $4 from the sale of each Shea Butter Collection or Shea Butter Deluxe Collection gift sets to help thousands of children around the world. What better way to celebrate the holidays than with beautiful gifts and beautiful intentions.

With Thanksgiving less than a week away, it’s officially holiday season. Tonight we’re having my college best friend and her husband  over for an intimate Friendsgiving. I whipped up my mom’s turkey recipe, I’ll be sharing it on the blog Sunday, I also picked up beautiful flowers and spent the day getting everything ready for our evening. For tonight’s centerpiece I settled on a simple arrangement of pink peonies and off-white anemones. I tucked a few eucalyptus branches under the vase and added a sprig of fresh thyme to each place setting to add an aromatic touch to the table. Scroll down to see how it all turned out.

Today’s Flower Friday is all about a glam take on fall decor. I know that glitter is the herpes of arts and crafts, but I love it so much I can’t help myself. I glittered my pumpkins, corn, and added embellishments in the form of confetti, and even an old brooch that I pinned onto one of the pumpkins. I also couldn’t resist adding a few bougainvillea blooms to give the whole set up a touch of that California vibe. I love how everything turned out. Most of all I had a blast making all of this.

Do you enjoy decorating during the holiday season?

I’ve always loved hosting dinner parties. I love planning out menus and decor. I love spending the day in the kitchen filling the house with the smell of home cooking. There is something very rewarding when everything and everyone comes together for a special evening.

Since Sam and I always have a friend or two popping in for lunch or dinner during the week, I’m always prepared to host people on the fly. Over the years I’ve learned that with a few tried and true recipes and a handful of special accessories you can whip up a dinner party that looks fantastic but is deceptively easy to pull together.  Scroll down and take a look at the set up created for a fall themed wine and cheese party. I decided to mix and match everything from the color of the napkins to the silverware and dinnerware.

Here’s a small glimpse into the little reading nook in our new home. I love to read so it’s really important to me that I have a quite space where I can curl up with a good book. Our new house still needs a lot of furniture, art, and rugs, but we’re taking our time decorating so we can make it look just right. Sam is painting new art for our gallery wall while I’m scour antique shops and furniture stores for new pieces to fill the space. One thing that helps our empty home feel alive is fresh flowers. Right now I’m gravitating to simple flora like eucalyptus branches and handfuls of long stemmed hydrangeas arranged in glass vases.

Happy Friday, kittens. Thanks for stopping by the blog, I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.
