I’ve always loved hosting dinner parties. I love planning out menus and decor. I love spending the day in the kitchen filling the house with the smell of home cooking. There is something very rewarding when everything and everyone comes together for a special evening.

Since Sam and I always have a friend or two popping in for lunch or dinner during the week, I’m always prepared to host people on the fly. Over the years I’ve learned that with a few tried and true recipes and a handful of special accessories you can whip up a dinner party that looks fantastic but is deceptively easy to pull together.  Scroll down and take a look at the set up created for a fall themed wine and cheese party. I decided to mix and match everything from the color of the napkins to the silver wear and dish wear.

Here’s a small glimpse into the little reading nook in our new home. I love to read so it’s really important to me that I have a quite space where I can curl up with a good book. Our new house still needs a lot of furniture, art, and rugs, but we’re taking our time decorating so we can make it look just right. Sam is painting new art for our gallery wall while I’m scour antique shops and furniture stores for new pieces to fill the space. One thing that helps our empty home feel alive is fresh flowers. Right now I’m gravitating to simple flora like eucalyptus branches and handfuls of long stemmed hydrangeas arranged in glass vases.

Happy Friday, kittens. Thanks for stopping by the blog, I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Nothing is more of a confidence booster than having beautiful healthy hair. Even with our mild LA winters my hair always feels dry and a bit frizzy during the colder months. To help my hair look it’s best I switch up my beauty routine and add a weekly treatment to keep my hair looking it’s best. This year I had the opportunity to try Pantene Pro-V’s Smooth & Sleek Collection. The Smooth and Sleek collection includes shampoo and conditioner that help lock out frizz and keep my hair feeling smoother for longer. My favorite product from the collection is the  Smooth and Sleek 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner. I use it at least once a week and sometimes more often if I feel my hair needs some extra attention. I love how smooth, soft and manageable my locks look and feel. Winter always seems like the time where you may just want to stay inside by the fire but there’s nothing like having a good hair day to make you want to go out to show it off.  You can get it here from Amazon which is great especially if you have Prime.

I love using fresh flowers as part of my holiday decor. It all started a few years ago when I decided to make a few ornaments with some pretty roses I had leftover after a project. I adored the look of the rose ornaments and have been using flowers on my decorations ever since. This year I used white peonies, yellow garden roses, and citrus hued ranunculus to create our wreath. For the tree I used small pink roses accented with yellow garden roses and white peonies. If you look closely you can see that I continued the theme of fresh greenery with my gift wrapping by adding in holly berry leaves. *If you have dogs make sure to never use the berries themselves as they are highly poisonous.

Check out my fresh flower ornament DIY. It’s easier than you think.

We’ve been together for 10 years so being married doesn’t really feel much different to us. However it’s very exciting for our family and friends. This year we’re sending out our very first holiday cards. I personalized our cards with photos from our trip to Paris with the help of Shutterfly. I chose on a simple and elegant design. I customized  everything from the background color to the lining of the envelopes. It was so quick and painless, I ended  up going a little overboard. I designed a blanket with pictures of our dogs, ordered monogrammed mason jars to commemorate our anniversary,  and a cheese board with our names on it. I also designed a few ornament cards with what else but pictures of my dogs for our tree. While making myself all of these goodies, I realized how perfect Shutterfly was for creating special unique gifts to celebrate the treasured moments of our loved ones. I ordered customized gifts for our all of our family members to commemorate their life changing events of the past year.  The biggest event was my sister in law’s recent wedding. I’m really excited to send her glassware engraved with her new family name. Her husband and her are really into beer and finding all the best microbreweries in Colorado so I chose the engraved pilsner glasses. I also got a monogrammed growler, which I thought could also be used as a water bottle for my little sister to take to her ballet classes. I included a special message on the back that I know will make her smile.  Shutterfly really has been a great service for getting something truly unique for the people in your lives that are otherwise pretty hard to shop for.
