Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend. Today I’m sharing a curated selection of my favorite pieces, gifts, and baubles still on sale. There’s everything from holiday dresses and cozy sweaters, to gifts for your hubby or wifey.
This was from our second day in Paris. Annabelle and I spent a busy day running around showrooms and shows. No matter how busy the day got we always found time to stop into a cute street side café for a croissant and a coffee. Paris isn’t short of gorgeous places, at every corner something beautiful awaits. One of our favorite finds was Amorino Gelato where their scoops were shaped like flowers. A flower shop was next door, providing a perfect Instagram photo opportunity. And we all know that if it’s not on Instagram, it didn’t happen ;) Of course no Paris trip is complete without a trip to Ladurée for their perfect macarons.
I recently had the opportunity to visit Alaska with Emu Australia and it was nothing short of amazing. I didn’t know much about Alaska before I went but I had seen images that took my breath away. We stayed at the Aleyska Resort outside of Anchorage. The trip provided us with a chance to experience a little bit of everything Alaska has to offer. We hiked glaciers, got the chance to ride dog sleds, took a rafting trip through the icebergs, visited the animal sanctuary and rounded everything off with an adventurous helicopter ride through a snowy storm. I definitely didn’t get to stay long enough, but I will definitely be back soon.
This was a special 4th of July for me as it was my first as an American citizen. Sam and I had decided to take a road trip up to Santa Cruz to spend the holiday at his family’s ranch. We wanted to keep our weekend mellow so when we found out our friends Annabelle and Edward decided to drive up the coast to join us, we set up a cute little picnic to enjoy in the afternoon light. You’d be surprised just how quickly and easily the whole thing came together. We pulled all the blankets from BabyBlue and the rest came from whatever we found around the house. Sam picked up sweets from a local bakery while I put together a quick cheese plate, a crudités platter with homemade hummus, and whipped up my famous Watermelon Rosé Sangria. We had the whole thing set up in just a few hours, perfectly timed with our guests’ arrival. It was a really lovely way to spend our afternoon. Annabelle and I spent the entire time chatting and enjoying our Rosé, while the boys played around with pellet guns and drones.
It really doesn’t take much to host a good picnic, party or whatever you have in mind. I really enjoy putting together celebrations for my friends and I love doing it myself. It’s all about working with what you have and being creative. My biggest advice is to not focus too much on all those dreamy Pinterest boards we’ve all created. Most of those pictures you find are shoots produced with a large team and endless resources. Your party doesn’t need to be “Pinterest perfect”. Adding some fresh florals, a few decorative pieces like candle holders, pretty glassware, vintage plates and decorative trays can really help elevate your set up without too much effort. You can find a lot of these accent pieces at flea markets, as well as antique or thrift stores. In the end as long as you and your guests had fun then you’ve succeeded in throwing a great event.
Rather than inundating you with endless Coachella posts I thought I’d round out a diary to give an idea of our weekend in the desert. We had yet another amazing year hanging with our friends and making a few new ones along the way. BabyBlue proved to be a champ serving as the perfect party mobile to drive us from party to party to festival. We always have a completely sober designated driver in Sam, who always takes the best care in making sure all of our friends have a ride. And with Uber surge pricing being excruciating during Coachella we had a line of totally random people offering us insane amounts of money to hop in for a ride. We had a great time but by Sunday I was pretty much ready to just lounge by the pool. Two of my girlfriends didn’t have tickets and had never been to the festival, so Sam and I decided to give them our passes. They ended up having the time of their life, which made the whole trip all the better.
