I love that faux fur is no longer just having a moment but has become a wardrobe staple season after season. I stopped wearing fur, even vintage, a few years ago. (It’s a personal choice and not one I think anyone else has to make.) One of the biggest downsides of not wearing fur is that it’s an easy way to stay warm. As someone who defines cold as anything below 75, finding coats that keep me warm can be a challenge. Enter in this beauty. I picked out this faux fur coat for our trip to Shanghai, but since we didn’t end up going I decided to shoot it in 90 degree weather on rooftop in downtown LA. It did its’ job at keeping me warm and then some.  I’m looking forward to wearing it on our one and only snowy vacation this winter.

Below I’ve picked out a selection of my favorite faux fur coats. Many of the stores have already launched their holiday sales and most of the coats are very reasonably priced.  Feel free to indulge in a little selfish shopping before you’re swamped with gift guides.

I found my perfect dress for Thanksgiving. The high neckline, delicate sleeves and charming print make this Rebecca Taylor number a dream.

As many of you probably noticed I am not in Shanghai like I was supposed to be for the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Unfortunately, the stories being reported about the Chinese government denying visas to show attendees is true (read about it here). I, along with other bloggers and the likes of Gigi Hadid and Katy Perry, was denied a visa and had to cancel our trip last minute. It was a huge disappointment because Sam and I had already planned out multiple dumpling tours, and even a dumpling cooking class for me to cure my unhealthy obsession with soup dumplings. I’m not sure when I will get another chance to go to China. However planning and thinking about a trip to a place so far away has put the travel bug back in me. As soon as we cancelled our trip, I immediately started thinking about our next destination.

Where have you guys always wanted to go? I’m thinking Sydney for my upcoming birthday or maybe Bali.

With Thanksgiving less than a week away, it’s officially holiday season. Tonight we’re having my college best friend and her husband  over for an intimate Friendsgiving. I whipped up my mom’s turkey recipe, I’ll be sharing it on the blog Sunday, I also picked up beautiful flowers and spent the day getting everything ready for our evening. For tonight’s centerpiece I settled on a simple arrangement of pink peonies and off-white anemones. I tucked a few eucalyptus branches under the vase and added a sprig of fresh thyme to each place setting to add an aromatic touch to the table. Scroll down to see how it all turned out.

This past weekend I jetted off alongside my college best friend to Baja Mexico for a getaway with Darling magazine and Alaska Air. The entire trip was beautiful top to bottom, but the most beautiful part were the women and the powerfully honest conversations we shared. The trip has changed a lot of how I view my blog, the “influence” it affords me, and how I want to channel that “influence” in a more honest and uplifting way. It’s difficult to write about the experience and everything it meant to me. I need more time to fully process my new direction. I will revisit the subject when I have had more time to formulate exactly what I want to say.

On a side note, if you’ve been following by Instagram then you are aware of the stressful situation we are currently going through with out landlords. You may also be aware of this post I wrote about my anxiety and how a few days ago I reached a breaking point. I’m working on a post to honestly discuss my ongoing battle with anxiety as well as issues surrounding the unhealthy aspects of our current obsession with social media, status, and the appearance of perfection.  I want to take this moment and thank everyone who sent me messages, emails, comments, and their support. That outpouring of love I received after my post was overwhelming. You are so much more to me than just people who read my blog. You are friends with whom I’ve been sharing my life with for almost 10 years. I hope to continue this journey but with more openness and honestly between all of us.
