Little image diary of our weekend at Coachella. We made very little plans this year but everything seemed to fall into place. Our friends offered us a last minute room at their place and I was lucky enough to get a wristband to go into the festival on Friday. We spent the day Saturday party hopping. We ended our night at Neon Carnival where we rode bumper cars, played carnival games, and danced the night away.
This weekend Sam and I took our BabyBlue Westy to Antelope Valley to see the super bloom of California golden poppies. It was the perfect location to shoot one of my outfits for Coachella which is coming up this weekend. I’m excited for festival and road trip season to begin. I can’t wait to take BabyBlue on the road to explore beautiful new places. We’re planning a road trip up to Seattle to visit our friends. We’re also hoping to make it back to Moab, it is still one of our favorite trips to date. In the meantime we’re spending all week prepping BabyBlue for Coachella. Coachella is when BabyBlue transforms into her alter ego of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Last year she served as part dressing room, part Neon Carnival rescue shuttle, and part crash pad for stranded friends.

This Friday Sam and I drove down to the desert to attend the Desert Trip Festival featuring an A-list line up with the likes of Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, and a handful of iconic musicians I grew up listening to (My first album was Metallica’s …And Justice for All, and I’m pretty sure I was born to Pink Floyd playing in the delivery room). The entire vibe of the festival was laid-back, almost the complete opposite of Coachella. We abandoned our assigned seats and instead had an amazing time dancing in the grass.

Rather than inundating you with endless Coachella posts I thought I’d round out a diary to give an idea of our weekend in the desert. We had yet another amazing year hanging with our friends and making a few new ones along the way. BabyBlue proved to be a champ serving as the perfect party mobile to drive us from party to party to festival. We always have a completely sober designated driver in Sam, who always takes the best care in making sure all of our friends have a ride. And with Uber surge pricing being excruciating during Coachella we had a line of totally random people offering us insane amounts of money to hop in for a ride. We had a great time but by Sunday I was pretty much ready to just lounge by the pool. Two of my girlfriends didn’t have tickets and had never been to the festival, so Sam and I decided to give them our passes. They ended up having the time of their life, which made the whole trip all the better.
