DARLING BY THE SEA

This past weekend I jetted off alongside my college best friend to Baja Mexico for a getaway with Darling magazine and Alaska Air. The entire trip was beautiful top to bottom, but the most beautiful part were the women and the powerfully honest conversations we shared. The trip has changed a lot of how I view my blog, the “influence” it affords me, and how I want to channel that “influence” in a more honest and uplifting way. It’s difficult to write about the experience and everything it meant to me. I need more time to fully process my new direction. I will revisit the subject when I have had more time to formulate exactly what I want to say.

On a side note, if you’ve been following by Instagram then you are aware of the stressful situation we are currently going through with out landlords. You may also be aware of this post I wrote about my anxiety and how a few days ago I reached a breaking point. I’m working on a post to honestly discuss my ongoing battle with anxiety as well as issues surrounding the unhealthy aspects of our current obsession with social media, status, and the appearance of perfection.  I want to take this moment and thank everyone who sent me messages, emails, comments, and their support. That outpouring of love I received after my post was overwhelming. You are so much more to me than just people who read my blog. You are friends with whom I’ve been sharing my life with for almost 10 years. I hope to continue this journey but with more openness and honestly between all of us.

Megan Willis - I am already a fan of this new direction you want to take. It’s already hard enough to be truly authentic and I can only imagine how much more difficult it is when your career depends on putting yourself out there to be judged and critiqued on a daily basis. Fashion is so much more than the clothes — it’s about the person and sharing who you are in a creative way. I am inspired by you and your vulnerability. Keep it up! We aren’t going anywhere :)ReplyCancel

Natali - Amazing post and welcome to the new and more braver and bolder you! Thank you for opening up already on your Instagram and for wanting to be even more open and real… This helps a ton to all of us who are suffering same or similar issues as you are and who are also uncomfortable about who we are or deciding to deal with our insecurities or sicknesses in quite and far away from the eyes of others.
