The feeling of old Hollywood is still very much alive in Palm Springs. The entire city embraces it’s Old Hollywood history through architecture, design and the aesthetics of it’s residents. Everything oozes glamour. Liz Taylor, Dinah Shore, Liberace, Lowe, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Alan Ladd, Debbie Reynolds, Marilyn Monroe and dozens more flocked to bask in the warm sun and soak in the free, easy desert life style. I come to Palm Springs whenever I need an extra dose of inspiration and glamour.
The Fine Art of Design is a must stop whenever I’m in the desert. Run by my friend Nikki, it offers an expertly curated collection of the best vintage I’ve ever seen. In fact I would say it is easily on par with some of the Parisian vintage stores I’ve visited. This 1960/1970’s caftan epitomizes the feeling of old school glamour. It is a showstopper and I can easily envision Liz Taylor wearing this while she lounges poolside, sipping champagne. Old Hollywood magic is still in the air in Palm Springs and I’m always coming back to bask in it.
