As winter starts to finally wrap itself around the city, I find myself predictably drawn to crisp whites, soft shades of grey and delicate pastels. It feels rather appropriate for a fresh new start. I like to look at the start of every year as a blank canvas, a time to reevaluate and make changes. The first thing I tackle is a refresh to my capsule wardrobe. I purge my closet and restock my beloved basics adding necessary pieces as I find them. This year my ideal capsule collection contains a leather jacket, a boyfriend blazer, loafers, tapered trousers, a couple of slouchy tees, a few silk tops, a camel coat, a little white dress, a pencil skirt in heather grey, and last but not least a few seasonal pieces like cashmere sweaters, scarves, and hats. My trick for curating a capsule wardrobe is focusing on flattering pieces in neutral shades. Think of this as a foundation that you will build on throughout the year. These will undoubtably end up being your go to pieces, so it’s worth investing in items that fit well and last more than a few wears.
