If you’ve been following this blog for even just a few months you’ve probably noticed my love for the California desert, particularly in and around Palm Springs. Aside from being a fun and luxurious getaway for those of us living in LA, it’s also filled with spectacularly peculiar destinations. From the oddities of the high desert down to the abandoned resorts around the Salton Sea, there is more out in the desert than you could ever imagine. One of my favorite places to visit is Salvation Mountain in Slab City. It’s a perfect representation of one man’s dedication to making his dream a reality. No matter how you feel about the content and purpose of the mountain, the sheer magnitude of what he achieved almost entirely by himself is awe inspiring. I cannot leave this place without feeling profoundly inspired to create my dreams.
