talking hair

I’ve always been pretty low maintenance with my hair, and it wasn’t until a few months ago that I learned how to curl my hair with a curling iron. No matter how many times I’ve had a hairdresser explain their technique, I could never recreate the look at home. A few months back, I was working on a photo shoot where I had to pretend to curl my hair and as the hairdresser positioned my arms it finally clicked. Ever since that photo shoot I’ve been getting perfect tousled curls in 15 minutes. The messy waves are a perfect match for this effortless look – I love the casual vibe of this jumpsuit paired with the white biker jacket.

Here’s how to get the look:
Step 1. Start with clean, brushed hair.
Step 2. Heat up a cone rod curling iron. Mine is ConAir.

Step 3. Grab a small strand of hair with your right hand. Position the rod to point facing down and wind the strand around the rod. Hold for 15 seconds and release.

Step 4. Once the strand has been released, gently tug on the curl to loosen it.

Step 5. Repeat until all the hair is curled. Switch hands when you get to the left side.
Step 6. Once everything is curled, flip your head upside down and shake out the curls. Finish with some hairspray.

Step 7. This is optional, but I like to mess up the curls with a little bit of pomade so it’s not too prim looking.
