Flower Friday

I've been spotting kumquats all over the flower markets these days and couldn't help but
include them in a colorful little arrangement. The best part is that they last for a long time, they can be reused for new arrangements, and they're totally delicious.
Flower Tip: My dear friend Bess, the creative genius/lady boss behind Celadon & Celery, taught me a quick little trick. Rather than using something like floral foam to position flowers in an arrangement, she uses hydrangea tops to weave in the stems and hold them in place. This has been one of the greatest little tricks I've learned. Basically you just cut off the top of a hydrangea and place it inside your vase with water. Next just nestle your flower stems as you like and the hydrangea will ensure that your flowers stay in place.

That is sooooooo dang smart Liz! But do the hydrangeas spoil the fresh water too quickly? Like what happens when you don't trim off excess foliage from the stems?...hmmmm...
