glitz

(via fashiongonerogue, studded hearts, souvenirs, gary pepper girl)
Spending New Years Eve with a few dear friends at the ranch.
Confetti has been purchased, so in my mind the night is already a success.
Happy almost 2011!

time away from you

(coat- H&M, jumpsuit-H&M, shoes- Asos)
I really enjoyed my time spent in LA, but I'm glad to be home.
Can't wait to enjoy the rest of my week off.
This coat is perfection. I don't think I have taken it off since the moment I bought it.

Merry Xmas

(bow headband- stolen from lil sis, dress- c/o thrifted,)
Merry Christams, Xmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Saturday!
If you only knew how much trouble I went through just to post this one image today!Bah!

ducking into Borders for impromptu reading sessions

(pants-c/o American Apparel, boots-See by Chloe, camel cape-Zara, denim button down-vintage, faux fur-H&M, ring-c/o Modcloth, bag-Zara, hat- Urban Outfitters)
A casual little getup for braving the holiday shopping crowds.
I'm really loving all of these burnt orange and tawny hues that keep popping up everywhere.
Good alternatives for brown and camel, and perfect for the impending explosion of all things 70's.

The holidays are crazy!!! Running around like a chicken with my damn head cut off.
The weather has been so bipolar that layering is the only way to get by.
I like layering neutrals in varying textures. The mix creates a look that is simple at first glance, but reveals it's complexity with a combination of unexpected details.

am

A recent holiday party turned into a late night/early morning photo shoot.
I love holiday parties and the over consumption that comes with them.
Nothing like some tinsel to go with your Four Loko.

Weekend Wear

Ocean Abstract VBack Dress - Threadsence
Italian Riviera Bag - Modcloth
Safari Bangles - Threadsence
Oversized Shawl Sweater - Nastygal
Wool Felt Hat - Need Supply
Round Sunglasses - Need Supply
Alexander Wang Constance Platfrom Bootie - Shopbop

Some cozy basics are all I need to get me through the next few days until the holidays. I can't wait until I have my few days off to lounge around the house and do all those things I haven't had time to do. I'm going to catch up on my books, organize my bursting closet and finally go ice skating with Sam. A mini road trip down the coast might also be in order.

P.S. Someone asked me where I work. I work here.

cats & dogs

(skirt-Topshop, sweater-Nastygal, boots- c/o Need Supply, turban- American Apparel scarf, bag- Zara, blue ring- Crossroads)
A quick rainy day photo shoot. It started raining the moment Sam and I met up for our lunch date, but I couldn't let it spoil my plans.
Sometimes you just have to work with what you have, especially when you work full time while also trying to run a blog.
I'm in love with these boots that Need Supply gifted me. I never saw myself as a combat-style type boot girl, but these have totally given new possibilities to my wardrobe.
They're the perfect cure for overdressing.

Here are some photos from the Art of Fashion Foundation competition fashion show.
The Art of Fashion Foundation is a nonprofit organization, dedicated to international cultural exchanges through a variety of events meant to facilitate critical thinking among artists, designers, scholars and students.

The foundation puts on their annual competition to expose
and support emerging fashion design students from all over the world. The foundation
offers internships and scholarships to the winners of the competition,
while introducing them to industry professionals.

These are just a few of my favorites, but I truly enjoyed all of the creative designs that came down the runway.

Foggy mornings

(jumpsuit-Zara, coat- Nastygal, shoes- Jeffrey Campbell c/o NeedSupply, blue ring- Crossroads, bolo-c/o Fortune Favors the Brave)
I love the thick blanket of fog that covers the sleeping city the early morning.
The city feels soft, almost fragile.
A loose 70's jumpsuit felt like the perfect thing to wear for a foggy morning adventure. The jumpsuit really doesn't get enough love in daywear, which is really unfortunate because Elvis wore jumpsuits and Elvis is gold. His were covered in rhinestones, but yours don't have to be.
But seriously, I love the simplicity of throwing on a jumpsuit. It's such a versatile piece and yet so easy to wear. I'm always on the hunt for the perfect one.

Creatures of habit

(dress- c/o Erin Fetherston, sweater- Forever 21, stockings-Forever 21, shoes- c/o Pierre Hardy for Gap, bag-vintage, vest- Zara, necklace-vintage)
Sunday mornings are always the same. A paper shared over a lox bagel and coffee from Thad's Cozy Cafe, a walk with the pup and stop over at leftovers for the thrill of a good vintage find.
This Sunday was no exception.
Since the holidays are fast approaching, I find myself sneaking glitzy pieces into my daywear.
It's getting me into the holiday spirit.
Best part of the season? The pink Christmas lights Sam bought me!

Floor grazing maxis keep catching my eye.
