Nude Flowers

(via StuddedHearts via NoirFacade)
This editorial for Vogue Nippon June'10 left me breathless. Frida brings such a joyful youthfulness to the images. I am in love with the subdued color palette

Beautiful editorials always help take my mind off of my worries. Not only is my mom in surgery today, but I got caught up in the whole IFB vs. Chictopia mess.
I love Chictopia and felt the need to defend it not because I work there, but because I feel strongly about the company and all the good it does for bloggers and fashion lovers alike.
I really need to learn to breathe and step back. I get a little hot headed and overly passionate sometimes. It's the Russian in me. Calm is not in our nature, our blood runs hot.

Funny Face

I noticed Sam's Pink Floyd tee yesterday morning and instantly knew it had to be incorporated into an outfit. Since I knew I'd be flying to LA later in the evening, I wanted to keep my outfit comfortable and relaxed. I decided to play around with layering and loosely cinched my waist to add a little shape to the layered tees.
To be fair, the shoes weren't part of the outfit until Nancy, an intern at Chictopia, brought these into the office. She decided they weren't for her, so I swooped them up. I think they add a much needed pop of color and pattern to the look.

Tips for flying in style
*Just because you're on an airplane doesn't mean you have to slack on style.
*Dress for unexpected temperature changes.
*Play around with loose layers.
*Wear pants that have some stretch, but make sure they're not too stretchy.
You don't want to end up with saggy knees and butt.
*Don't wear heels or flip flops. The former is uncomfortable, the latter unsanitary.
Opt for ballet flats or flat oxfords.
*Avoid belts.
*A darker color palette is more forgiving when pesky turbulence causes a spill.
*Your go to look:
Dark jeggings, loose tee, a denim button down, leather jacket and flat oxfords.

Speaking of funny faces, Funny Face is one of my favorite films.

Hair Raisers

Major hair lust!
I want crazy huge hair with waves and a ridiculously 80's side sweep. Getting over my bangs.

Flying to LA this evening to be with my mom before her surgery. Will be drowning my fear of flying with Indian food, beer and cupcakes. Too bad they don't serve actual meals anymore, that was always my favorite part of flying. Yup, I love airplane food. I am a freak.

Apartment/Shoe Porn

I want my house to look like Olya Thompson's Brooklyn brownstone.
Not only is she Russian, but she decorates like one too.
Crazy patterns, gilded frames, antique accents and not a clean empty space in sight.

On a more fashion related obsessions, let's talk shoes. Not just shoes, but wedges.
Oh how I love me some wedges. Easy to walk in, fun to look at.
There is something irresistible about a a skinny pant or a bouncy dress topped off with a chunky wedge.

These I bought from Aldo yesterday, but of course the rain spoiled
my plans of testing them out on SF hills today.
These I want! They have an exposed heel, go take a look at NeedSupply.
These 70's floral platforms from Dear Golden are the most perfect summer shoe. Period.
If only they were my size.

There is something classic, chic and sexy about a woman in a shirt dress.
It is the epitome of effrotless style, especially when worn with tosseled hair and a men's watch.

Spent another beautiful SF day wandering around the city. We have been slowly redecorating our studio since we moved in. The task has been a much more difficult feat than we first imagined. Having completely different tastes and a tight budget doesn't help. Sam prefers clean, modern and industrial interiors, whereas I love everything eclectic, tacky, and vintage. Is it gold, gilded and Rococo inspired? Perfect, I'll take it. Is it a deep red, green or navy wing back chair? I have to have it. Needless to say what I like is what we get. Poor Sam has resigned himself to living in my crazy patterned world.
Today we stumbled on some real treasures and spent the evening moving and reorganizing.

P.S. These shorts were bought yesterday (for $2!) and are a work in progress. They are super long and unfortunately don't stay cuffed the way I like. I was hoping to avoid any major alterations but I think they will need a little bit of cutting and hemming.
