Bumming around

(ribbed leggings- American Apparel , pull over-vintage, tank- James Perse, jacket- H&M, sunglasses- American Apparel )
I know this isn't the most inspiring of outfits but sometimes it's nice to bum around and not worry about looking cute. I'd be lying if I said I always look stylish and put together. There are many occasions where I have left the house looking a mess and sometimes that's how I like it. I can't possibly be inspired all day everyday, I'd loose mind if I worried about my outfits all the time. So here I am with no make-up, unruly hair, coffee cup in hand, in all my messy yet comfortable glory.
I spent Thanksgiving with my boyfriend's family at their beautiful ranch in the Santa Cruz area. They have so much, yet remain so humble and spoil their children with love rather than money.
These were taken during one of our morning strolls. The property is bordered by vineyards on all sides and during this time of year the scenery is especially breathtaking with all of the fall colors radiating from the vines.
Hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving and weekend.

Thank You

Happy Thanksgiving!
Today I am thankful for you, all of my readers. Starting this blog has given me the opportunity to meet and work with some extremely talented people and I can only hope that this ride continues on.
I really want to thank each and every one of you who stops by my blog and I want to thank everyone who has a blog for inspiring me to start mine.

Pictures from my favorite new blog Dandy Gum , introduced to me by the beautiful and talented stylist from Nastygal, Stacey. Listening to the way she talks and thinks about fashion inspires me beyond words and I can't wait for her to start her own blog.

Sometimes it's really hard to come up with a title

(scarf-DonniCharm , pants-vintage, blouse-Zara, jacket-H&M sunglasses- American Apparel)
This picture was shot during a recent expedition to Scrap in the industrial district. Scrap is like a hoarder's heaven. It's basically a store full of really cheap junk for arts and crafts.

Thank you Vanessa for this beautiful illustration!

Love at First Sight

(shoes-Jeffrey Campbell, dress- A Wang, lace full-body suit-American Apparel)
Fell in love with these babies while modeling them for Nastygal Vintage. They are so sci-fi Gothic, so severe and nothing like anything else I own. I knew instantly I needed them in my life.
These shoes are a really good indication of how inspired I am by Atlas Shrugged, the book I am currently enthralled with. You'll be noticing a lot more industrial themed scenery and outfits.

I had a really lovely time meeting and seeing everyone at the blogger meet up this Sunday, can't wait to do it again!

Also please stop over at Naple Street Style and check out their feature on yours truly.

And don't forget to grab the new Forever 21 magazine (featuring me and 4 other amazing bloggers) available at F21 stores and free with your $40 purchase.

Better Late

(slips-vintage, men's cardi- H&M, sweater vest-Silence and Noise, boots-UO, sunglasses-American Apparel, jewelry-vintage)
I have been terrible at updating this week and I promise to be better. I have become super busy as of late and I have to admit I am enjoying my new found purpose. I start my week at Chictopia where on top of being a Social Media/Marketing intern I have also become the shopugly editor, a guest editor for EIU (read my article here), and a PR rep for Fashion Week. On Tuesdays I head over to Tobi and enjoy an easy, fun day of modeling. Wednesdays I commute to Berkeley and begin my Nastygal gig. Modeling for Nastygal is a lot of fun, everyone is amazing to work with, but it is very fast-paced and wares me out more than you can imagine. I usually model on Wednesdays and intern as a marketing/styling assistant Thursday and Friday.
By the time I get home all I have energy for is dinner and cuddling with my pets and boyfriend. Once in a while I will muster enough energy to attend a store opening or some other fabulous little get together.

Here are a few pics of me and my Nastygal boyfriend, Nick, playing around at the warehouse and out at Harput Market store opening this week.

Caught my eye

Some lovely images that have caught my attention recently.
Loving feathers, tweeds, and long legs in nylons.
Must play around with intense layering and volume a la Comme de Garson F/W 09.
Obsessing over rings and vintage watches.

Road Trippin to LA

My bf and I took a little road trip to LA this week to visit with my family. I also had the pleasure of participating in a promotional photoshoot for FashionIsPoison's new boutique. She is with out a doubt one of the most inspiring people I have ever met. The shoot was a lot of fun and it was great meeting some of LA's biggest fashion bloggers.
Here are a few pics from the trip.

Make sure to check out my feature in the new Forever21 magazine, launching in stores in the next couple of weeks.

I'll be emailing the contest winner today!

Who Knew...

Last week I shot a lookbook for Tobi wearing all of their new Elizabeth and James pieces. I think the lookbook turned out beautifully. Frankly I am surprised but also proud, I didn't think I had it in me.
Here are some of my favorite looks.

Over Accessorizing

(pants-vintage, silk tee-vintage, scarf-H&M, ankle socks-DIY, jewelry and sunglasses-vintage, shoes-Jeffrey Campbell)
Whenever I wear all black I feel the urge to over accessorize. It's like having a blank canvas and the freedom to pile on as many layers of shiny metal, enamel, and stone as I want.
I really love the idea of layering watches as bracelets, even more so when the watches don't work. It's as if time doesn't matter.

DIY Styling Tips
*If you don't have any ankle socks cut the feet off a pair of old sweater tights.
*Make a bandeau top for see through shirts by cutting off the top band of a pair of black nylons.
*Make bike shorts out of black opaque tights.

Uniform

(faux fur jacket-F21, denim shirt- vintage, loose button up- vintage, riding pants-Zara, platform booties- Jeffrey Campbell 99 zip wedge, necklace- F21)
This look has been my uniform for the week. It breaks down into something like this: riding pants or skinnies, loose tank or loose button up, fur jacket or boyfriend blazer, layers of necklaces. Easy, simple and quick.

A couple of you have emailed me asking for some tips on how to wear faux fur (or real fur). So, here are my tips for some easy styling.

Faux Fur Styling Tips

*Because faux fur has a tendency to be slightly bulky, keep the rest of the silhouette simple and streamlined.
*Pair your faux fur jackets with skinnies and loose tanks.
*Layer denim shirts and long cardigans under fur jackets.
* Try your faux fur vest over a leather biker jacket.
*Wear a long fur coat with a dress and some sky high pumps for a classic evening look.

Hope everyone had a lovely Halloween, I was a marionette.
What were you for Halloween?
