Leaving on the train

(leggings-AA, shirt- DIY, scarf- traditional Russian scarf, jacket- UO, shoes- Chinese Laundry)

I am leaving for San Francisco tomorrow and I am taking the train . I am going to meet a new friend, I can't really talk about it now but it's someone exciting.
I recently saw the film Tokyo and I urge everyone to see it. The film,  a collaboration between Michel Gondry, Leos Carax and Bong Joo-Ho, explores Tokyo through three short, powerful films. Each short film was stunning in it's own way, but Michel Gondry's piece was truly a beautiful work of art.

I am Hot Pink

...pants that is.
I bought these bad boys in a thrift store in Santa Barbara over spring break. They have proven to be a challenge to style but I am having fun experimenting with them. I have also developed an affinity for wearing a single earring, this one I made a while back.

Through the Looking Glass

Went shopping today and came up with some American Apparel harem pants, new shoes from Urban Outfitters (on sale) and a loose tank from some random store.
Way too much work to do in my lab tomorrow, won't think about it now.

Something to make you laugh while you drink your coffee

I think this is genius! I fucking love cats and their crazy antics.

Decaying Beauty

Sylvia Ji creates the most beautifully haunting images.  Her art bridges together the ugly and the beautiful, creating a seamless transition from the youthful to the decrepit. What you see at first glance is most certainly not what you get, both visually and symbolically, as you go back for a second look. These works are playful yet savage and reveal the duality that is ever present in life.

Hot Hot Heat

(bowtie-thrifted, shirt- thrifted, shorts- AA, shoes- DSW, purse- Armenia Carpet Bag, glasses- vintage)
It's terribly hot out! I had to wear something  that would keep me cool and my little shorts did just that. I did a little vintage shopping today and came up with some nice high waisted shorts and a pair of puffy, high waisted peddle pushers. I also tried on a pair of white satin pants that did not fit ( my friend ended up buying them), now I will be on the hunt to find another pair for myself!

Loving right now...

Sunday, Fun Day

It's HOT today. The beach was unbearable, so we pitched a tent on our deck.
Wearing my new AA romper, it's my new favorite.
Hope everyone has had a fantastic weekend.

Just brought home...

Did a little shopping at American Apparel, here is what I brought home...

Shelter, A Basic Need

John Lautner was one of the U.S.'s most influential contemporary architects. He studied under the famed Frank Lloyd Wright for six years and contributed to the Googies movement of the 50's with his 1949 design for Googies Coffee Shop. Googies architecture  can still be seen today all over the West Coast from  Seattle to Southern California. Googies architecture, is whimsical and futuristic.

Last night I got lucky with a ticket to Band of Horses. They were great, fantastic, better than expected. The show ended pretty early so we went to a dive bar for some pool, bar nuts and beer. It was a pretty excellent night.

A Brighter Day

I think my funk has lifted (fingers crossed). I felt much better yesterday and although I did not do the research and lab work I needed to do I did go to all my class and meetings. I also had a black out last night and had to spend the entire night with no electricity. Reading by candle light is impossible.
Hopefully I'll be able to get tickets tonight to see Band of Horses!

Feeling Blue

I have been in a slight funk lately. Yesterday I spent the entire day mopping around like a sulky teenager, not very becoming. I am going to try very hard today to feel better and get things done!
I think if I was wearing this outfit it would help my funk...
