A day of thrift store shopping...

Today I went shopping with my friend Lauren, I bought my new floppy hat, a flower patterned men's button up, brown loafers,  and two silk scarves. In the late afternoon my bf and I went down to the water.  It was a lovely day overall.

If I could fly away right now...

...it would be to Japan.

Girl Meets Boy, Steals His Wardrobe.

I am feeling really inspired by the "Boy Meets Girl" shoot in the new Vogue. It's sweet and fresh with a boyish charm. I love the play between masculinity and femininity. I want to experiment...

Short Shorts and Old Cars

I wore this out last night to dinner with my love and a short film screening. The evening was great, it ended with lots of unexpected friends and drinks. My love did make fun of me the entire night for what he calls  my "boxer shorts", I loved wearing them though. I always tell him that for an artist he has a very conventional idea of fashion.

P.S. For all of you who have left comments; thank you, your kind words are very appreciated.

I am reading Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals for my Social Influence class. Here are some of my favorite quotes-
"The human spirit glows from that small inner light of doubt wether we are right, while those who believe with complete certainty that they posses the right are dark inside and darken the world outside with cruelty, pain, and injustice"
"From the moment we are born we begin to die"
"The pursuit of happiness is never ending; happiness lies in the pursuit".
 ( Alinsky, 1971)

Valentines Day Outfits

These are kind of a before and after my hair appointment. I got bangs, not sure yet if I am sold on the new look, it is a nice change though.
I had a darling Valentines Day thanks to my sweetheart.
I also bought a book by Albert Camus and a collection of short stories by Dostoevsky. I started reading yesterday and am completely enamored with both books. I think Albert Camus is going to be my new obsession ( even though i have always loved his work).

Proenza Schouler... I love you for fall 2009

Love the black on black layers, the metallic black skirts, and the lace up booties. Yum.

Dresses

Maybe it's because I cant shop but I cant help myself, I keep looking for new items I want to purchase. These dresses are making me itchy... ( I sound like an addict)
Fun Fashion Fact:
Halston was a 1970's dream. A minimalist, socialite, party animal, and star of Andy Warhol's diaries he was a big force in fashion until the early 1980's when after selling his name his business crumpled. He is remembered for making Jacqueline Kennedy's first pillbox hat.

Some key items for spring

Hat, shorts, shoes - American Apparel
pants - Alice and Olivia.
I hope I can find those shoes at a thrift store for less then 20$. I may have to suck it up and buy the hat and shorts from AA, but I am certain I can find a similar pant for less.

He once said " All a woman needs to be chic are a raincoat, two suits, a pair of trousers and a cashmere sweater".

The first two lovelies are Victoria's Secret, the all white perfection is Chanel, the lacy number is Elizabeth and James, and the last piece is the always effortlessly chic Alexander Wang.
